Past

The Past position in the reading refers to recent events and challenges that just took place, things that lead up to the present situation, and your role in them.

Four of Pentacles
The Four of Pentacles indicates that you achieved stability through reliance on material gain. You may have been blocking yourself from the world around you, symbolized by the character in the image who covers his head, heart, and feet with his wealth, protecting himself from interference from the outside world. What were you afraid of losing, so much that you hoarded everything you could? You have proven that you are adept at saving money, and you deserve the hard earned financial success you’ve won, but once in a while you must take time out to enjoy some of the bounty of your success.

Present

The Present position in the reading represents what is happening right now. Typically, this is what triggers you to seek out a reading. This card can often help you to understand what steps to take next.

Four of Swords
The Four of Swords represents an inner retreat that you are currently taking. Your present situation is very difficult and you may be in the midst of much turmoil. A temporary truce seems to be in place, and you are now seeking recuperation within. The swords on the wall symbolize your previous battles, and the sword at your side represents your current conflict. You will soon take up the sword again. The battle isn’t over, but when you return to it, you’ll be invigorated and able to formulate a mature, effective response. When combined with the Eight of Wands or the Six of Swords, this card can also mean that some kind of an actual trip may take place, one intended to bring you peace of mind.

Future

The Future position in teh reading describes what is just around the corner. It’s an official “heads up” about where the situation is heading and how you may navigate through it towards the best possible outcome.

The Lovers
The Lovers is the seventh card in the Major Arcana, and is given the number six to indicate balance. It signifies the three realms of the mind: the conscious, the subconscious, and the superconscious, embodied in the male, female, and the androgynous angelic figure above them. The man and woman are naked, symbolizing their honesty with each other as well as their physical accessibility. They represent that which is revealed. The winged figure above is clothed in robes, indicating the unknown, or that which is yet to be revealed...a mystery. Combined, these three elements form a complete whole.

The Lovers symbolizes relationships, and harmonious interaction—both within the self and without. The Lovers card in your future indicates that love will be playing a crucial role in your life, and a decision will weigh heavily on your mind. The angel is thought to be Raphael, bringing healing to the situation. This symbolizes a need to mend fences, or heal yourself from a relationship that you will not be able to salvage. Look to your heart, and decide what it is you truly desire - what you will need to make yourself whole.
