Past
The Past position in the reading refers to recent events and challenges that just took place, things that lead up to the present situation, and your role in them.
 The High Priestess
The High Priestess is the third card in the Major Arcana, and is given the number two to indicate the polarity inherent in all things. She sits between the pillars of light and darkness, mercy and severity, positive and negative. She has withdrawn from outside influences, going deep within to gain knowledge from behind the veil of consciousness. The scroll in her lap is labeled “TORA”, the name of the Hebrew holy book, indicating her link to divinity. Behind her, the eternal ocean of emotions and intuition ebbs and flows, and she is the key to its mysteries.
The High Priestess in your past indicates that the root of your issue is in your search for more esoteric knowledge, when you experienced a spiritual wakening. The attainment of such wisdom required discipline. She also indicates that you looked for the subtle meanings beyond everyday events. You learned to listen to your inner voice to hear the truth that lies beyond the shallow, mundane world, and trusted your instincts. |

 Ten of Cups
The Ten of Cups suggests the success of family and emotional fulfillment. The rainbow is the promise of stability and protection, and in the Bible, the rainbow was used as God’s promise that he would never again send a flood of destruction to the earth. You may be in the process of realizing how strong your family is, and what they have done to help create who you are and give you strength. Your current family, if you have one, is growing closer, perhaps after a very trying time. This card can also signify the start of a new family, like a young tree sending its first roots into the ground. |

 Three of Cups
The Three of Cups indicates the celebration of friendship, and the joy of being together. You will soon be enjoying time with close friends and remembering the good times that you have shared. Great achievements will be toasted among you, suggested by the bountiful harvest at the feet of the women celebrating.
